You were my Mum You were my mate,
I loved you so much and thought you were great,
You brought me up you taught me well,
And oh what tales you could tell,
Trips to Nana’s you’d make me take,
And I’d come out with a piece of cake,
Journeys down the road on the way to school,
You watching the road me acting the fool,
Holding my hand keeping me safe and sound,
I didn’t appreciate it but now I’m so proud,
Mum this website is a tribute to you,
You who inspired me to write a poem or two
So as it grows so will this poem,
My inspiration to keep it going.

Trips to the Vale to the shops
You’d buy me and album Top of the pops
Visit to the dentist in Caldy Road
Clean my teeth like I am told
If I was good then just maybe
You’d buy me a big chocolate Dundee
Christmas time was always great
Decorations you would create
Paper chains in many colours
We’d all help out sisters and brothers
Christmas tree with purple bell
A glass of sherry that Christmas smell
A family time enjoyed by all
Christmas time was such a ball
Mum this website is a tribute to you,
You who inspired me to write a poem or two
So as it grows so will this poem,
My inspiration to keep it going.

Holidays provided by you and Dad
Always good never bad
Trips to Anglesea, Lligwy bay
Hoping for some sunny days
Walks on the beach and a paddle in the sea
Feeding the horse our mate Neddy
Trips to Butlins with all the clan
Puffing Billy and the ice cream van
Days in Beaumaris a game of bowls
Crazy golf we’d play a few holes
Games on the beach a dig in the sand
Our holidays were always grand
Mum this website is a tribute to you,
You who inspired me to write a poem or two
So as it grows so will this poem,
My inspiration to keep it going.

Teenage years I was probably a pain
But you were there for me again and again
Up early breakfast was made for me
Boiled egg soldiers and a cup of tea
Send me to school with my bus fare
I was lucky and without a care
I’d come home for tea and was well fed
If I did’t eat it up, it would be on my head
Life was simple you made it that way
I didn’t appreciate then but I do today
Mum this website is a tribute to you,
You who inspired me to write a poem or two
So as it grows so will this poem,
My inspiration to keep it going.

So time went by and I left school
Time to grow up and not act the fool
Time to earn money and get a job
But you still slipped me the odd few bob
Looking after me your only thought
You would never see me short
You still looked after me and kept me fed
And still had to shout me from my bed
Sandwiches made for my dinner
With you Mum I was on a winner
Mum this website is a tribute to you,
You who inspired me to write a poem or two
So as it grows so will this poem,
My inspiration to keep it going.

Time moved on in my life
Time to find a girfriend and maybe a wife
I was growing up fast and thought I was the man
That is when I met the lovely Jan
A great choice I’m sure you’d agree
Good enough to marry me
We all got on well and shared great fun
She consdered you her second Mum
And I know you felt the same way too
She also became a daughter to you
Mum this website is a tribute to you,
You who inspired me to write a poem or two
So as it grows so will this poem,
My inspiration to keep it going.

My wedding arrived an emotional day
Friends and family sending me on way way
Me and you shared a little dance alone
To the sound of Tom Jones Green green grass of home
A wonderful moment ten out of ten
Oh how I’d like to do it again!!!
A fantastic day filled with joy and fun
I think on this day you were proud of your son
Mum this website is a tribute to you,
You who inspired me to write a poem or two
So as it grows so will this poem,
My inspiration to keep it going.
