Joes Ritirement poem

Joe’s Retirement
23rd July 2013
A Rhyme of Quirk for Mr Bourke!!!

Joe can we take a little of your time
As we bring to you your retirement rhyme

After many years in teaching today’s the day
That we send you on your merry way

It’s time to retire that is a fact
More time with your family more time to relax

In Liverpool you were educated in your trade
A wonderful teacher in fact first grade

One of your first Jobs St Mary’s in Eccles
Teaching to you became something special

It something you loved something you enjoyed
Telling stories to the girls and boys

St Mary’s was good but I’m sure you’ll agree
Not as good as St Teresa’s it’s clear to see

You joined St Teresa’s we’re not sure the date
As deputy head you fitted in great

Teaching the juniors helping them on their paths
Teaching most subject specialising in maths

You became the headmaster in 1992
A fantastic achievement for a Bourke like you!!!

In charge of the school for the last 21 years
You’ve shared some great times and wiped away a few tears

A great leader of the school it really must be said
You’ve even survived many inspections by Ofsted

So to your retirement what will you do
You will have to find a hobby or two

Time on your hands won’t it be grand
Time to do the things you have always planned

We know you’re a big fan of reality TV
And trips to the Trafford Centre with Rita maybe

You like your sport football of course
And you’ve been known to have the odd bet on a horse

You’ve recently been living the dream with Man City
But your manager got sacked oh what a pity

He won the Premiership and FA Cup
But appears that wasn’t good enough

So now a new manager will give it a try
Will it be back to the woes of days gone by?

You enjoy a pint on a Saturday in the White Horse
Just one or two with your pals of course

You like your theatre and with musicals are impressed
Les Miserables is one of your best

You enjoy a good holiday and if you get to choose
You like nothing better than a bit of a cruise

You like to go walking and be put through your paces
And really enjoy a good day at the races

You enjoy the odd book maybe murder mystery
And you like to study the local history

So now you are retired there’s more time for the above
Doing the things you enjoy and you love

One more thing you love its clear to see
Is spending time with your family

Time with Rita your wonderful wife
And she of course is the love of your life

Three wonderful children who would have believed it
They’ve all turned our great what an achievement

Of Michael, Steven and Laura we’re sure you are proud
Three wonderful off-spring that stand out in the crowd

And Granddaughter Georgia we could not pass her by
As we know that she is the apple of your eye

So back to school life what can we say
Are you going to miss your school days

Chit chat in the staff room until the bell rings
Often the talk is of “Women’s things!!!”

Playtime with the kids all taking the mick
As you try to teach them all how to skip

I‘m sure you’ll miss some things and you will look back and laugh
And I do know you will be missed by MOST of the staff

So we all wish you well with your retirement life
Spending great time with your family and wife

We send you our best wishes in this little rhyme
We hope in your retirement you have a wonderful time

I think of that there is no danger
Please keep in touch don’t be as stranger

A great servant to St Teresa’s that is clear
And you will always be welcome back here

A great headmaster an example to us all
Enjoy your retirement and have a ball
