A Poem for Nan.
Nan at this very special time
I’ve written for you this Christmas rhyme
I know this year has not been great
So let’s see if we can cheer up my old mate
Nan you like a poem or two
But it’s not that rude one RING-DANG-DOO
Maud although you are ninety three
You seem to act as young as me
Family outings you still love
And your wheel chair we are happy to shove
We do the shops and have a ball
Our favourite trip’s to Meadow hall
On our last trip you showed us up
And stuck you head in a large G cup
I heard the shop assistant say from a far
Who’s that mad lady with head in bra
Although you find it hard to get about
You still have your marbles I’ve no doubt
How do you keep them? Let me think
Maybe its watching the weakest link
Apple bastards are your favourite bake
The ones that Mr Kipling makes
With a cup of tea they are a must
You scoff them down but leave the crust
Nan you always make me smile
You do things in your own sweet style
Paracetamols when you take them
It makes me laugh again and again
Throw your head back and get them in
It really make me and my Mum grin
Nan this poem is sent in Jest
As my old trout I think is the best
A better Nan I could not find
Although you’re feisty you are oh so kind
I know quite often we are apart
But I still love you with all my heart
So Nan Happy Christmas To you
I know this year we’ve shared a tear or two
But let’s move on with no more fear
And look forward to a happy new year
