Trish Baby Shower
15th January 2012
This is the day this is the hour
To celebrate your baby shower
Trish this poem is just for you
Filled with fun and baby poo
A rhyming greeting we do send
To Trish and baby from family and friends
How did you get pregnant let me guess
Was it Paul being a pest?
Through Natalie you met at Aiva’s Birthday do
This is when you and Paul became two
Joanne told you although Paul looks neat
Watch yourself he’s after fresh meat
She also warned Paul to keep away
That was the worst thing she could say
A dance and a kiss to Dapper Overture
The rest is history need I say more
The kiss went a bit further to rumpy pumpy
And now you’re the shape of humpty dumpty
Don’t worry about that it will be worthwhile
When you see the birth of your child
It’s been a long pregnancy with ups and downs
Some smiles and some little frowns
Sometimes unstable on your feet
You even fainted at Mathew Street
While the bands were playing music loud
You were carried away from the crowd
But you recovered and came back quite soon
To sing and dance along to the tunes
So what can you expect in child birth
You’ll push and shove for all its worth
You’ll swear a little and scream and shout
Until your little girl comes out
A little mess when you break water
But it will be worth it for your daughter
Look forward to the flowing river
Just before you do deliver
Look forward to the aches and pains
As the midwife shouts please push again
But please don’t scream and shout too loud
You need to make your baby proud
One last push and she will be out
And then with joy you can scream and shout
After the birth follows smelly nappies
To keep you busy and oh so happy
Midnight feeds and no sleep
It’s enough to make us all go weak
But please don’t worry yourself at all
Just stay in bed and pass her to Paul
So now let’s have a little game
To see if we can guess the name
Freda, Molly, Dawn or Sue
Any of these I’m sure will do
Victoria, Stacey, Helen or Jane
Are we getting close or just being a pain
I know one thing whatever you choose
Will be just great you just can’t lose
As with all names we all know
Into this name the baby will grow
I’ve bought some gifts for you today
To help you out along the way
Firstly to help you catch the drips
Some little pads for your nips
The favourite gift of every Mummy
You guessed it yes a packet of dummies
Something to help with pain and smell
Some nappies and some teething gel
Some annusol I’ve also packed
To help you with your burning crack
On baby walks for miles and miles
Something to help soothe your piles
Shelly wishes she could be here
But she’s too busy with Aussie beer
But I’m sure she sends you a good wish
To Paul, Bump and Mother Trish
So good luck Trish we wish you the best
When feeding baby by bottle or breast
When changing nappies full of poo
We’re sure you’ll raise a smile or two
So get on with it and have no fear
You have the support of all gathered here
Get in those stirrups and give them hell
We know all will turn out well
Think of us all as you push and shove
And remember we’ll be sending you our love
So a toast to Trish let’s hear you cheer
Let’s finish this poem and get on with the beer
